Gallery 1202 is a contemporary gallery located in downtown Gilroy, in the South Bay of the San Francisco area. The gallery was established by Emily McEwan-Upright in 2018, with it's first round of shows in the spring of 2019. The gallery represents emerging and mid-career artists, while also featuring a selection of curated themed group shows.

We are a female focused gallery, and we strive to support women artists in all stages of their careers, especially those who struggle to find representation due to limits of having a family. We do represent and support male artists as well, and do not discriminate based on sex. Gallery 1202 is focused on providing support, and continued promotion of the artists and art we truly believe in.

Gallery 1202 is active within its local community, and we frequently hold fundraisers in conjunction with our exhibition openings to raise money for local non-profits such as the Gilroy Foundation, Gilroy Preparatory School, and Community Solutions. The goal of our sticks and bricks location is to encourage community engagement and involvement in the rotation of exhibits featured at the gallery. Our programming is free to the public, and we encourage families to expose their children to the arts as much as possible. Every daytime event will have a children’s activity, and children are always welcome to visit. We do encourage a “look but do not touch” approach to ensure the safety of our visitors and of the artwork.
